Gran Canaria Swim Week closes a successful edition with high levels of engagement and a strong commitment to local talent and the internationalization of the event.

The Cabildo of Gran Canaria concluded the 2024 edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week with excellent audience figures—highlighting 3.3 million social media impressions, a 35% increase compared to the previous edition—demonstrating the sustained success of the strategies implemented in recent years, focused on internationalization and professionalization of Europe’s only swimwear fashion runway.

Forty designers, including international, mainland, and Canarian brands, completed a swimwear fashion calendar characterized by craftsmanship, high-quality designs, and a commitment to sustainability. Additionally, the runway agenda featured a model casting on par with major international catwalks and a lineup of opinion leaders, influencers, and fashion experts who spread Gran Canaria's name across their digital communities.

Increased Social Media Engagement Compared to the Previous Edition

During the runway week, over 22,000 users accessed the event's official website, primarily from Spain, followed by visitors from the US, UK, Germany, Italy, France, and Brazil, among others. The responsive version of the website facilitated public access, with mobile devices becoming the primary platform, accounting for 48% of total users. Regarding social media, the event’s official account garnered 3,383,576 impressions, marking a 35% increase from 2023. In addition to these impressions, GCSW was broadcast across the social media profiles of invited influencers.

Extensive Media and Influencer Coverage

The event also enjoyed significant media coverage. Journalists and photo reporters from generalist outlets, editors of major fashion and lifestyle magazines, and industry-specific and swimwear-focused publications, as well as agencies, attended the runway. RTVE once again served as the official media partner. The program Cerca de Ti, hosted by Roberto Herrera and broadcast live from Expomeloneras, covered the fashion shows. Furthermore, RTVE aired segments on both national and regional channels about the runway.

A group of journalists from prominent media outlets in the US, Italy, France, Portugal, Sweden, and Denmark traveled to Gran Canaria, boosting the event’s international visibility and impact. ¡HOLA! TV, a Miami-based channel specializing in fashion, lifestyle, and royalty news, brought all the details of Gran Canaria Swim Week to millions of households across Latin America and the United States from their TV set located in the social area of the event.

Opinion leaders and influencers shared their experiences through their social media with their respective digital communities, including figures like Josie, Rocío Ossorno, and Chincha Rabiña.

GCSW 2024 Awards

  • The award for Best Collection went to Victoria Cimadevilla for Flor del Desierto, a collection celebrating feminine strength and resilience.
  • The Best Sustainable Collection award was given to Econaked, whose collection emphasized its commitment to sustainability and ocean conservation through responsible materials and eco-friendly practices.
  • Chacho Svnrs won the Best Emerging Collection award for Chacholand, a bold declaration that perfectly captured the brand's spirit.

Gran Canaria Moda Cálida

Gran Canaria Moda Cálida is a fashion initiative in the island’s textile sector, created by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Handicrafts of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria. For the institution, fashion is a growing sector with industrial expansion potential, and Gran Canaria serves as a platform where designers and businesses support their projects.
