The 2023 edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida begins

The Cabildo of Gran Canaria and IFEMA MADRID join forces again to co-organize a new edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida.

More than thirty designers, including international, peninsular and Canarian brands, complete a swimwear calendar full of craftsmanship, quality, design and sustainability. An agenda of fashion shows that includes a casting of models at the level of the great international catwalks with a call for international prescribers who will spread the name of Gran Canaria throughout all corners of Europe. The catwalk will take place in three days of fashion shows, between October 5 and 7 at the ExpoMeloneras site in Maspalomas. In this edition, GCSW by MC will host 9 international firms, 16 Canarian firms – 14 from Gran Canaria and 2 from La Palma – and 6 peninsular firms. Once again, these figures support the organization's commitment to the internationalization of the event.

Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida will host 9 international brands in this edition: Pin Up Stars, Miss Bikini and Edelvissa from Italy; the British Melissa Odabash and Alexandra Miro; the French Cala 1789 and Pain De Sucre; from Monaco, Banana Moon, and the Israeli Gottex. This notable presence of more than 30% of international firms on its calendar reflects the solid strategy that the Cabildo of Gran Canaria has developed in recent years with the internationalization of the event as a key objective.

During the opening day, Pin-Up Stars, Alexandra Miro, Pomeline, Pain de Sucre, Dolores Cortés, Diazar Atelier, Gottex, Gisela, Miss Bikini and Nuria González will present their Spring-Summer 2024 proposals. The second day of fashion shows will reveal their bets for next summer: Bohodot, Edelvissa, Melissa Odabash, Maldito Sweet, Como un Pez en el Agua, Chela Clo, Palmas Swimwear and Agatha Ruiz de la Prada. During the closing day it will be the turn of Patricia Caro, MR&G Design, Volcano Blood, Monnur, Libérrimo, Muchiachio, Chachio Souvenirs, Banana Moon, Arcadio Domínguez, SANJUAN, Aurelia Gil, Cala 1789 and Elena Morales.

National and international opinion leaders and influencers such as Pelayo Díaz, Josie, Marta Sierra, Emiliano Pernia, Minerva Hernández, Priscila Betancor, Marta Ibrahim, Yaiza Mencía, Gema Betancourt, Celine Bethmann, Saffi Karina, Philine Pi Roepstorff and Ginevra Mavilla will share their experience through their social networks with their respective digital communities.

Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida reinforces its commitment to swimwear with the presentation of three awards focused on promoting the work of designers. These awards will be given to the Best Collection - sponsored by Louzao Mercedes-Benz -, to the Best Sustainable Collection - sponsored by Maredamare and CyL -, and to the Best Emerging Collection - sponsored by Mahou 5 Estrellas. The three awards will be presented on Saturday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m. after the SANJUAN parade by the president of the Cabildo, Antonio Morales.

To bring the event closer to all citizens, in this new edition the fashion shows can be followed on a large screen from the new GCSW by MC terrace at ExpoMeloneras. In this space, enabled so that anyone who wishes can closely follow the event and its parallel actions, a gastronomic area and a chill out area will be located.

A diverse, cosmopolitan and multiracial casting of models will parade on the catwalk, made up of models from the Canary Islands, national and international. This casting specialized in swimwear is made up of 35 models in total: 24 girls -10 of them are Canarian models-, and 11 boys -of which eight are Canarian-. Leading the cast of national and international models are names such as Lorena Duran, Desiré Cordero, or Grace Quaye, among other names, as well as leading male models such as Nacho Penin, Simone Bricchi, Angelo Gómez, Yorgos Paraskeva, Jorge Rodes, or Jabel Balbuena, among others.

The event has extensive media coverage through a high-quality guest press program, made up of national newspapers for men's and women's fashion and lifestyle, general media, economic media and technical media specialized in swimwear.

TVE is once again the official television of the event. The program Cerca de Ti, hosted by Roberto Herrera - and broadcast live from Expomeloneras - will cover information about this edition's fashion shows. In addition, the network will broadcast, both nationally and in its territorial disconnections, programming on the catwalk. For its part, HOLA! TV renews itself as official international television and moves for the first time with a television set to the social area of ExpoMeloneras to broadcast the catwalk shows to its entire audience and make connections with the official Miami set. Journalist Lucía Riaño will be responsible for the special on-site programming of ¡HOLA! TV.

As in previous editions, the catwalk will have a virtual press room hosted on the Moda Cálida website www.grancanariaswimweek.com and on Instagram (@GranCanariasSwimWeekByMC), Twitter (@GCSwimWeek), and Facebook (facebook.com/GranCanariaSwimWeekbyMC/) . The hashtag #GranCanariaSwimWeekbyMC will serve as a tool to make the event viral on social networks. The parades can be followed live through the website, which receives visits from users from the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany, among other countries.
